Where to Stay in London:
Choosing the Perfect Neighborhood
London is the capital city and one of the largest cities in the UK. The city that has something for everyone, or is famously known as “the big smoke,” has so many personalities and communities that you are spoilt for choice when choosing where to stay, whether for a couple of nights or as a temporary resident. We are going to dive right into some of the best and alternative neighborhoods for you to consider when popping down to London.
Why London At All?
When picking which city to visit or temporarily reside in, there are so many questions you might ask yourself, such as opportunities, things to do, culture, community, transport, and cost. There are a lot of things that London excels at compared to other UK cities, and it is by far the best place to be exposed in terms of versatility, art, opportunity, and culture. While it is the capital city, so this all comes at a pretty high cost, there are still ways and places you can reside in London without paying city center prices because transportation is something they have down in this great and rather large city.
Where To Stay in London?
Here are some of the best neighborhoods, both expensive and inexpensive, that are perfectly friendly and inviting for tourists and visitors to reside in temporarily.
Marylebone
One of the rare and charming neighborhoods that manages to stir up the feeling that you’ve discovered a secret and unexplored community. Much more low-key than around Oxford Road, Marylebone has a more relaxed, quieter, and elegant personality, which makes it not only an attractive destination to visit but also to reside in. With unique passageways and a welcoming aura, you will be more than happy with your choice to stay here.
You will be surrounded by delicious bites to eat, little shops, and on the doorstep of other exciting areas of London.
Mayfair
You must have already heard about Mayfair and its prestigious background, home to some of the most high-end shops in the world, along with award-winning galleries, restaurants and so much more. This, you can imagine, is a rather expensive area to stay in, but it’s also right on the doorstep of everything you could ever want. Worth considering if you want to be right in the heart of London.
For safe and secure parking, you have gated areas around the whole of London. There is secure parking around Mayfair or Hyde Park parking for you to choose from.
Shoreditch
Another elegant space for the creatives of London is the unorthodox creative energy that is loved and appreciated by many. You could say that Shoreditch is the perfect place that offers something for every generation—close to transport links, of course—but also has so much within itself to offer that you don’t have to leave. Pastries and trendy fashion stalls to visit during the day and then quirky bars and clubs to enjoy at night, you are spoilt for choice.
I will go as far as to say it wouldn’t be cheap to stay here but you only live once and it is a great location to visit at least once.
Soho
One of the party places in London! Full of life, culture, icons, and great-tasting food. The list goes on for Soho. I would recommend a nice fancy meal during the evening, but don’t let the night stop there; in fact, head over to the bars and clubs they have to offer and party into the early hours of the day. With a huge LBGTQ+ scene, you will never find a more creative and accepting area of London, not to mention it’s where all the tourists flock. On the border of Oxford Street, Regent Street, and Leicester Square, you are slap bang where all the action is, and this is a fabulous location to stay.
Notting Hill
Live out your own Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant fantasy by spending a couple of nights in Notting Hill. It is a place for you to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city center and to enjoy wholesome areas to reap in the beauty. The trendy West London suburb of Notting Hill has been partly eclipsed by upscale bathroom stores and visitors looking for Hugh Grant’s blue door. However, don’t let this deter you, because the essence of the original Notting Hill can still be found.
Camden
Camden was formerly only a little village outside of central London. Subsequently, the trains, canals, and warehouses appeared, followed by the hallucinogenic youths, punks, and Amy, a young lady holding a hive. Camden is currently undergoing yet another round of change. This area of north-west London is experiencing an influx of new companies, with an increasing number of cafés and restaurants opening their doors.
Final Thoughts
When it comes to staying over in London, you have your pick of stunning, authentic, and enriching places to visit. No matter where you stay, there are amazing transportation links for you to use.
